Looking for that feeling you’ve achieved something special? Then riding the 104km Waikato River Trails will provide that sense of accomplishment you’ve been looking for.
Most users of the Waikato River Trails, whether they’re walking or cycling, will explore one trail at a time. If you’re keen to explore more than one section in a day then any of the trail combinations below are absolutely achievable for anyone with a moderate amount of cycling fitness or an e-bike. We recommend you set off with a good amount of food, water, a mobile phone and clothing layers with you.
For those of you who are extra fit and want a real challenge our 104km of trail is waiting for you to knock off in a day!
It is slightly easier travelling cycling down river from South to North (Whakamaru to Karapiro).

TWO DAYS
If you’re a more experienced and regular mountain biker, or you’ve got an e-bike – then riding the full trail in two days is entirely achievable. E-bikers make sure you set off with 100% battery life each day!
